VP of Finance

Part-Time Position in Seattle, WA

Core Purpose:

Ensure financial health of the company through development and direction of administrative, financial, and risk management strategies and operations.

KeyResponsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts and models, presenting information and operating scenarios to the Executive team and Board of Directors and recommending appropriate actions
  • Ensure timely reporting with compliance with local, state and federal tax and licensing authorities
  • Monitor and control cash flow activities
  • Safeguard company assets through implementation of appropriate financial controls, asset tracking and insurance coverage
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks to the organization
  • In partnership with the CRO, negotiate customer contracts and deals to ensure legal compliance and best-case outcomes for the company
  • Ensure that the company is in legal and regulatory compliance across all disciplines
  • Monitor all legal issues pertaining to the company and the industry, and own all relationships with legal representation
  • In close collaboration with the CEO, drive debt and equity financing strategies and outcomes
  • Manage due diligence for corporate transactions including debt, equity and M&A
  • Develop and manage operating budgets for all departments within the company
  • Lead audit processes and own relations with external partners, including to investigate and act as appropriate on their findings and recommendations
  • Manage outside corporate counsel and maintain all corporate governance records
  • Manage capitalization table and all equity issuances, awards and grants
  • Recruit, hire, empower and retain a financial team that grows in tandem with the needs of the company
  • Assist in cultivating a strong company culture aligned to the vision and values of the organization; demonstrate values through actions that reinforce the desired behaviors
  • Manage facilities, space planning, corporate space searches and negotiate leases

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proven and increasing experience in a senior/executive leadership position involving development of successful and profitable financial and operational strategies, goals and vision
  • Intimate knowledge of GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
  • In depth knowledge of corporate financial, legal and risk management practices
  • Demonstrable experience creating accurate financial models and forecasts, and successful risk mitigation strategies
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem solving capabilities
  • Outstanding leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of integrity and proven ability to use sound and reliable judgement to make decisions for the company
  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field required; MS/MBA or public accounting experience preferred; CPA desirable

Working Conditions:

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting.  Employees in this position use Mac and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Minimal corporate travel will be required for certain business meetings and events.
